Acts and the letters stop being a map and start being a place. You stand on the Areopagus in Athens where Paul addressed the philosophers. You walk the ruins at Corinth and Ephesus. You see how far these journeys actually were, which is the part that never quite lands when you are reading it in a chair at home.
Greece in October is the sweet spot. The summer heat has broken, the light goes golden in the afternoons, and the crowds at the great sites have thinned right out.
There is room in this one for the ordinary pleasures too. Greek food, the islands, coffee in a square somewhere while the day goes by. It is a pilgrimage, not a forced march.
