Cheyenne Frontier Days has been running since 1897 and calls itself the Daddy of 'em All, which sounds like bluster until you get there. It is the largest outdoor rodeo in the world and it takes over the entire city for ten days.
The rodeo itself is the centerpiece, bull riding and bronc riding and barrel racing in an arena under an enormous Wyoming sky. But there is also a full parade with authentic horse-drawn carriages, an air show, a chuckwagon cookoff, and free pancake breakfasts that feed thousands of people in the street.
Wyoming in late July is warm days, cool nights, and the kind of light that makes everything look like a postcard.
