The Norwegian Bliss has an observation lounge wrapping the front of the ship with floor-to-ceiling glass, which matters more than you would think. When the glaciers come into view, or a humpback surfaces off the bow, you are watching from a warm chair with a cup of coffee rather than standing in the wind on an open deck.
Late August is a deliberate choice. The salmon runs are on, which means the bears and eagles are out. The days are still long. And the crowds have thinned from the July peak.
Roundtrip from Seattle keeps the flying simple. No repositioning, no one-way air, no complicated connections through Anchorage. Fly into Seattle, board the ship, and come back to the same airport.

Yes. This sailing includes a Canadian port call, so bring a valid passport. If yours needs renewing, do it well ahead.
Entirely your call. Shore excursions run from seated bus tours and train rides to hiking and kayaking. The ship itself is large but has elevators everywhere.
Cool and often wet. Days generally 55 to 65 degrees, cooler on the water and near the glaciers. Layers, a waterproof jacket, and a warm hat. Do not let anyone talk you out of the hat.
